I bought several HO Walthers 60-ft heavyweight head-end and passenger cars some time ago - both undecorated and in ATSF colors. They were a four-car set, all 60-ft ...... baggage, RPO, combine, and coach. I have too many RPO's (5) for my meager needs, so I'd like to offer the undec RPO to anyone in frisco.org who would be interested. Refer to the attached pics to go along with the following description.

What I have is Walthers item 931-766, a mint, new-in-unopened box, HO, undecorated 60-ft heavyweight RPO. It is assembled, not a kit, except for the enclosed handrails, mail-catcher gear, brake wheel, etc parts which must be added. The car rides on nice six-wheel trucks with metal wheels, and is complete with Kadee compatible couplers. See the attached pics - the Walthers box, the undec RPO in the box (I have never opened the box), and a pic of the same car in ATSF colors (no parts added yet) to give a better idea of what the RPO looks like. These are very nice cars, look good, ride well, and are complete with interiors.

The retail price for this car at Tinkertown here in StL (golly I miss them!) was $29.98 each (marked on the box); I got the bunch during their clearance for about 60% of that, as I recall. I'll sell this undec RPO to frisco.org folks for $12.50 just to move it out to another SLSF pike as I'll never use it. I could possibly ship it USPS First Class, but I would prefer using USPS Priority Mail. Buyer to pay actual shipping (max would be $5.95 via Priority Mail).

Why would frisco.org people be interested? This car is very close to the SLSF 2040 series of 60-ft RPO's. I'll be glad to include a copy of the Frisco car diagrams (2), plus a copy of a pic of SLSF 2045. To "Frisco-ize" it, some windows will need to be blanked off as SLSF 2045, 2049 and 2050 only had three unblanked vs the model's six, but otherwise it is darn close, and is a nice looking car.

Payment via personal check from frisco.org folks is fine, or PayPal is also OK if we use the "friends" option. I don't want to pay PayPal fees for this low price. If interested, let me know via a PM to meteor910, or via an e-mail to meteor910@mindspring.com.

    Thanks. (SOLD)

My RPO buyer is torn between lettering this Frisco RPO in gold or in Dulux (Duluxe?) yellow decals. I have a set of Oddballs #318 gold passenger decals for him if he wants gold - everything he needs is on that sheet. However, if he wants Dulux, all I can offer is the Champ #HX-8 express reefer set in Dulux. Trouble is, this Champ set does not contain some needed lettering for a RPO - RAILWAY POST OFFICE and UNITED STATES MAIL.

I have a great looking Athearn RPO which I lettered with set HX-8 some 25-30 years ago. These missing two decal letterings are on that car, in Dulux, with the correct font. Anybody have any idea where I got those two letterings? Not from today's HX-8!

What is a good source for Frisco passenger decals in Dulux other than the Champ HX-8 set?

I have lettered all my passenger cars that show the Dulux color with the HX-8 set and they look great. But, what's best for a RPO?
