How many of you were affected by the storm that rolled through Friday morning through Se Kansas and SW Missouri? I still don't have internet at my house. Bob, I know your in parsons how bad was it there? At my house one of the barn doors was blown/ripped off and peices of sheet metal were blown into my yard from about 1/3 a mile away. Needs less to say it was a micro burst and winds in Lamar were clocked at about 85-90MPH.

We had plenty of damage here. Lots of trees and power poles down. Hundreds of people have roof damage. We had catagory 2 hurricane winds here. I was pretty lucky I only had a few limbs down and my mothers yard only had a few limbs. She lost power for awhile. We were out of power for only a couple of hours. I was on my way to Columbia Missouri in the middle of it. It was raining very hard and I was blown from one side of the Highway to ther other and it took me over an hour to drive about 35 miles. I have never been scared while driving in a storm before but I can't say that now. I drove 270 miles in a very bad rain storm and I hope to never have to do that again.

Bob - I was thinking about all of you folks in SW MO and SE KS when the storm hit the other evening. We had some heavy rain, wind and huffin and puffin here in StL, but fortunately no major damage suffered. Glad you made it through OK.

The small town of New Albany which was on the Wichita Sub between Fredonia and Fall River took a big hit including one fatality. The current population was about 73 people with just a few houses. The Frisco crossed the Fall River just north of town on a really neat steel bridge like the one Central Valley produces. The road and the river crossed under the bridge. I hope to model it some day.

We had moderate damage around the Marshfield, MO area. Personally, other than limbs and debris, the only issue we had was a 2 day power outage at our house. However, I work for a power company, and had to deal with storm damage all weekend long at work (no favortism, I was one of the last to get power back). We recorded a top wind speed of 93 mph at our headquarters. Everything is back to normal now...

I followed the storm to work in Pittsburg on Friday morning from Parsons. I went through Carona and we had one of our Santa Fe Semaphore's blown down. All of our other signals are o.k. I found on the SKOL in Carona a big empty open top wood chip hopper that was in storage for the shop to work on blown over onto the mainline. It was parked in the Mid-America siding. It was coupled to three other cars just like it but they made it through fine. I got to call it in to dispatch. We had to call out R.J. Corman to set the car back up on its trucks.

We had 90mph winds and lost many tree limbs and two large trees, a walnut and a hackberry. Both were close to the house but fortunately fell away from the house. My neighbor lost the top out of a tree next to my shop but it too fell in the right direction. Between two ice storms and another wind storm in May 2008 we have lost 9 trees in our yard. On the plus side we are well stock with firewood.

We also lost power for 15 hours. Not bad considering many in our area were without power for days.

Yesterday I helped some guys from my church cut up a huge oak that fell on a metal shed. Flattened the shed like a pancake. Also damaged his neighbors concrete block garage. I am still sore from 4 days of wood cutting in the last 7 days. Parts of Carthage, Carl Junction and Joplin look like a war zone. They say it was not a tornado but the damage was not much different than a EF-1 would produce.

Now the NWS is calling it and inland hurricain. I would agree because, if it were a "hurricain from the sea" it would be anyware from a strong cat.1 to a weak 3. Only damage at my house is missing shingels and limns down.
