Anyone know if there is a font for the computor that does the letting for the name "The Texas Special" and if so, where I can get it?
You might try looking for some name like "neon script." That's what I'd call it. It's sort of a 50's drive-in resturant outdoor sign style. When I used to do drafting, there was a lettering pen brand called "Speedball" and they published a lettering guide booklet. it had every conceivable style of lettering, how to do it, stroke by stroke and what it was called. Stands to reason that there is some kind of lettering guide like that now in the digital age. Also "Neon Stream" would be another style to look at, although it seems to be vertical and not slanted. See also the "Chesapeake & Ohio" script lettering font. Tom PS: Similar fonts are from Airstream trailers, Harley Davidson and Indian motorcyles (Also the "Cleveland" Indians). Looking at Google, there are several free "Font" websites for desktop publishing.
There is a website that has the Eurida and Texas Special fonts for the Texas Special and diesel locos. It is: www.railsimstuff.com I have it downloaded, and have made my own large scale decals with it. Merry Christmas all! Dan
Well when you figure out, please advise me or send it to me. At the following Email addy wba2485811@aol.com Thanks william
William .. I am trying to attach it here. It is a "zip" file. I have not tried to print it to see how it looks. I will send it directly to you - also.
After unzipping the file and noting where you unzipped it, Go to Control Panel, double-click on Fonts, click File, Install new font and navigate to the place where you unzipped the file and select it. It will then be one of the fonts selectable in any program where you can select a font, such as Word, Excel, Wordpad, Notepad, etc. Attached are Eurida which is supposed to be the Frisco early B&Y diesel font, Erie Roman which close to the Roman-based Frisco font and a couple of railroad numbering fonts such as for mileposts and number boards. These were pulled off the previously posted website.
