|-||-|I made a couple of these static grass applicators from parts from a hardware store I got about $25.00 in it. If you have seen the commercial ones they sell for $135.00. or more. This is a 110 volt version not battery, with a long heavy duty extension cord. it works good just like the commercial ones. I would like to sell for $25.00 + shipping. let me know if you need pictures. Please, contact me off list if you are interested Thanks|-||-| Tom Holley
Re: Static gras applicator I was just wondering about something. You said that your static grass applicator uses 110V AC house current and not a battery which uses DC current. Not knowing what parts you used, I was wondering if you are grounding 110V AC with a ground clip insert like the battery version does or how does it work? It sounds a little dangerous to me (fire/shock hazard) to ground straight 110V AC with a metal ground clip inserted into the grass and apply voltage to the unit. Just sayin' George
Re: Static gras applicator I am glad you asked George, It seems I have been gone for weeks and the last few days there have been a few emails to me about this and I have been trying to upload a video and my ISP has good download but way lousy upload speed (getting fixed tomorrow hopefully). Anyway the negative Ion generator has a step down volt/amp thing going on as there are no sparks or anything like that. Yep when you squeaz the matt glue out and spread it with a brush, you stick a nail in the glue and there is an alligator clip to a ground wire, you attach and watch the fiber go to the glue, it's kinda wild to watch it work, I had never seen anything like it before. All there is included is a negative Ion generator, a flashlight, a clear plastic bowl with the lid cut out and a piece of aluminum screen hot glued to it with a + wire attached, a - wire with an alligator clip on it. Really simple but it works very good. no big sparks at all. You can touch the ground wire to the screen and you can hear a click but that is it.. no sparks like putting a metal tool in electrical socket or something, nothing like that at all. Otherwise you can go to Harbor Freight and get a battery powered fly killing swatter and make a grass applicator too, but it wont work as good, tried that too, thew it away I thought so little of it. I used this youtube video to make mine, just added an on-off switch to the flashlight I used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=klMcCTpMdLs Anyway I bought enough stuff to build 2 and only need 1. Thanks Tom Holley
Finally got my ISP connection fixed so hope this works. I should have used a little darker grass but I think it turned out OK. I would not advise doing any of this while standing in water, I am sure that there is a way one could hurt himself or others with this. Regards Tom Holley
Tom - Off topic, but I was just admiring the pic of your SLSF heavy duty flat car. Your grass planter is not the only neat innovation you have come up with. I like the CAPY decal on the HD flat car ..... seems to have some QA&P influence! Back to the grass. Ken
|-|Ken-you're eye for detail and my "lack of" spelling skills never cease to amaze me. And the Q and C are so far apart on the keyboard, man I'll tell ya, I mean please. Tom Qolley
