Snow Plows on Steam Locomotives?

    Hi Y'all,

Just for giggles, I found this snow plow for the Mantua Pacifics and Mikado frames and I snagged it. San Antonio has seen its far share of big snows back in the 1880's - 1930's.

I did a search and found only one thread on MOW equipment that referenced snow removal and that was a Jordan Spreader, which I have one already. Did the Frisco ever equip any of their steam locomotives with snow plows or am I going to have to chalk this one up to freelance liberties?

    Thanks,

    Manny

I think that it will look good on the 4-4-0, if it doesn't tip over! :):p;):D:rolleyes::eek:

On page 120 of McCall/Schultz's Frisco Southwest is a picture of what appears to be a snow plow extra consisting of 3 Moguls, a gondola and a caboose. The lead locomotive is fitted with a snow plow, however, it doesn't look like the one you've pictured. All the locomotives have pre-electric headlights.

    Thanks guys.

I don't have access to that publication. Is there any way you can scan and post a picture?

I'm reluctant to post copyrighted material on this board. I've sent you a possible solution via PM.
