The Heart of the Heartlands Museum has two of the office chairs out of the Scammon, MO depot. A native of Scammon, MO removed them from the depot when it was being torn down. We have them in our restored Boston, MO Missouri Pacific depot at Carona, KS. One is at the telegraph desk in the bay and the other is at the agent operator office desk. John Chambers
And here is a picture of both chairs taken during the Frisco Festival. The depot is very nicely restored!
Keith, Nice photographs and thanks for the complements but this is the wrong depot where the chairs are located. The chairs are in the Boston, MO depot and this is the inside of the Carona, KS depot. The chairs in here came from the Santa Fe depot in Cherryvale, KS. John Chambers
Okay, so I did not read thoroughly! LOL. So here is the Boston, MO depot with the chairs from the Scammon, KS depot.
Okay, that is funny, Keith. "Do not like those? I'll post some more." The restoration of both of the depots is awesome! My appreciation and thanks to the individuals, groups, and organizations involved.
Scammon, KS depot. I think the same image from the Axe Digital Library was pulled down. http://www.kansasmemory.org/item/448123/page/4
From the newspaper Scammon Miner, October 15, 1905 Interesting that trains run via Weir, KS. Was there a direct connection at that time?
