Don Wirth sent this Art Johnson photograph of the roundhouse at Pensacola, FL. The bay is in the background, the tracks continued to the right of the roundhouse to the port facilities and the interchange with the Louisville and Nashville (L&N) Railroad. Note the two Baldwin VO-660 diesel switchers. One is in one of the roundhouse stalls, one is above the roundhouse on the main line coming from the city port tracks. These were necessary to handle highly flammable fuel to the Naval Air Station and were among the first on the Frisco.
I took these pictures of the old Frisco Pensacola turntable last month. The first is looking south toward what would have been the roundhouse.
That is interesting and I am surprised to see it still there. Is there a connection to it or is it just standing there? Also, in the second shot, is that a steel water tank hiding behind the trees?
This picture gives a better view of current access to the turntable. The view is looking south toward the former roundhouse. I will post some pictures of the yard under Divisions/Southern Division/Pensacola Subdivision.
Pensacola, FL - Roundhouse & Turntable - M. S. B. & P. RR. Facilities The chief purpose of this drawing is to show the location of the steam lines and air lines at Pensacola. However, it also shows the general arrangement of most of the structures and track. The date of the drawing is May 20, 1927.

I never realized what a ziggy route the Frisco took to get into Pensacola. To be honest, while living in Atmore, I didn't pay much attention south of Cantonment and the paper mills. When in Pensacola, there were two places to go, Woolco for train stuff and Evelyn's Grunge Bar.
Pensacola, FL - Turntable Here are some shots of the Pensacola turntable. Unfortunately, all I had was my camera phone.
Pensacola, FL - Turntable Yeah, its sad we still used it a few years ago. You had to start it by pushing it with a backhoe, then it would get going. Would not hold enough pressure. Now you can not use it at all It is sad to see its nothing now.
Pensacola, FL - Roundhouse & Turntable - M. S. B. & P. RR. Facilities Karl, You wouldn't want to sell that drawing would you?
Pensacola, FL - Roundhouse & Turntable - M. S. B. & P. RR. Facilities I can run the linen to a reprographics shop to be digitized. How much would you like to spend? Color or black and white? What format - jpg or pdf? Resolution?
Pensacola, FL - Roundhouse & Turntable - M. S. B. & P. RR. Facilities I would like it to be exactly like it is there in the picture you posted.
