Don, I'm with Murphy, it took a little bit for the thought to sink in about being "chased off". Looking at the picture, my first thought was you got chased off taking the picture years ago. Great job modeling and great job composing the shot!
I fooled him for a minute today, long enough to get a shot of the hostler backing the 4402 onto the table. Alas, I got run off again. One of these days.
Doc hide the DeLorean!!! We aren't the only ones who can travel back in time now. Our plans have been discovered by Don Wirth. We have only minutes to spare before he returns back from Newburg, MO! Amazing work Don!!! How do you edit in the steam & smoke on the pictures? Ship it on the Frisco! Murphy Millican
Don, If I don't see that pic of 4402 on the cover of MR, I will cancel my subscription. Murphy, A brilliant statement, "Doc, hide the Deloren, etc".
Went back and got there just in time to see 1522 being turned. She came in on the General Wood and was being turned and serviced. 4101 was smoking it up after having her fire cleaned and being coaled, ready for more duty on the hill.
Don, I am one of your groupies too. Great work. This is what I want to be when I grow up. Keep the pictures rolling. Frisco Faster Freight! Rick
I do not want to grow up. I have seen it and it doesn't appeal to me. I want to stay downstairs in 1943 instead.
Don't ever grow up Don! That would mean the rest of us would have to!! Fantastic work [play?] I know my pop is shaking his head as well! For the "not knowing", my dad worked for Fox / Stanley Photo for 30 years, was friends with Don, and a Ham (KOFZX) as well. Later, Dan
Meanwhile, back in Summer of 1943 two buddies have the feedbag on at the Newburg coal chute. 19 is being serviced after a run down from Ft. Leonard Wood and the 4101 is being readied for an eastbound Extra as a helper up Rolla Hill while 3801 simmers outside the roundhouse.
Don: WOW! I will have to ask more often! The modeling work (never mind the photography work) is stunning! Precisely why I've latched onto 1943 for a modeling era. Newburg must have one &$*# of a grumpy roundhouse foreman. Thank you for dodging him to get these! OT, but I'm glad I saw your photo of the silver/pewter water columns before I painted my Tichy water columns black. Well done, and thanks for sharing. Best Regards,
