Seasons Greetings from east of the Mississippi!

My name is Gerald Altizer. I just registered for Frisco.org a few moments ago. I am an amatuer historian and preservationist. When I'm not researching a topic of subjects from my "to do" list, I am part owner and manager of a short line railroad in =WESTERN MARYLAND=.

As a preservationist, I am always curious about what remains of fallen flag railroad rosters. Last year I purchased an SD38P from BNSF. It was the last existing Western Maryland SD35. In the course of my research I discovered that there were three ex-Frisco SD38-2s still on the roster. Further investigation revealed that Frisco owned only four such units: SLSF 296-299 (BNSF 6260-6263).

Knowledge like this always piques my curiosity and invites the question "what remains of the Frisco. Presumably most of what is left is on the BNSF roster. I was able to find a GE U-boat at a museum in Ohio.

Has there ever been a comprehensive roster compiled of Frisco locomotives and rolling stock? If not, why not? If not, is there enough interest within this forum to pursue this subject.

    Best regards.

Welcome to the group. "Frisco in Color" has a good roster of power. "Frisco in Color 2" also has lots of power in it. I am probably not the right member to talk about the subject. There is many members that have a really good knowledge on the subject of Frisco Power.
    All the Best

Agree with Bill, those books are a very good place to start. There are a lot of guys on this chat board that have a "specialty" if you will. And several are diesel gurus. Also several fellows keep track of the ex-Frisco equipment. They'll probabaly chime in. Others are freight car experts, modeling, scenery, DCC, etc. My passion is Frisco passenger cars. Welcome.

    Regards, Tom G.

Get the latest BNSF power annual and it will tell you what Frisco diesels are still active. Welcome aboard.

... And if you want to learn about Frisco diesels in depth, find and purchase "Frisco Diesel Power" by Louis Marre.
