Atlas has announced production of a PS-2 Two Bay Covered Hopper for September Delivery. As a matter of background, I believe (but am not sure) this is the same mold they used in their regular line until the advent of the Trainman Line. Having said that, this car was produced earlier as part of the American Historical Railroads 3-Pack.
The difference this time is that Atlas has evidently chosen to model the as-delivered paint scheme of the first 100 cars with the small FRISCO billboard letering vs. the larger billboard lettering used starting with the second order. A picture of the car being modeled is on page 98 of Molo's book (middle picture). The photo of the prototype car was taken in 1984 so this paint scheme lasted throughout the entire Frisco lifetime.
Specifically, the model will be available in two road #'s 84032 (Item # 17003A) and 84044 (Item # 17004A) with a retail of $13.95. It can be viewed at: http://www.atlastrainman.com/HOFreight/tmhops2.htm
One more interesting note is that by doing this research I have discovered that unless that specific car was repainted, the above mentioned original offering was mis-numbered as it carried Road # 84050.

I just received today my Atlas Frisco PS-2 two-bay covered hopper from their second release of this car in Frisco colors. I got it as SLSF 84032, Atlas item number 17003.

The Atlas PS-2 is a nice car - not the super car the Kadee PS-2 is, but well worth having, and a lot less expensive. There is a nice picture of SLSF 84032 in the Molo Frisco/Katy equipment book, page 98. This car was from the Frisco's first purchase of the PS-2 and it came in a lettering scheme using smaller "FRISCO" billboard lettering, which was not used on the following orders from PS (or on the ACF two-bay "Center Flow" as well). The Atlas model is nicely decorated, though it seems to me the FRISCO lettering is a tad too thin when compared to the pic. The gray is also a shade too dark to my eye, and the trucks are wrong (not ASF A-3's - easily fixed with a pair of Kato's), but overall the Atlas car is well worth the cost.

ps - Also included was a real nice Atlas ACF 3650 "Center Flow" three-bay covered hopper, as IMCX 5466. To my knowledge, this is the first mass-produced model of the three-bay 3560 Center Flow. I wish Frisco had some of these - neat looking car. Also a good value for the price.
