I have been looking through the Frisco Archive for anything to do with Mill Street/Phelps Avenue and found this view. http://frisco.org/mainline/2015/05/16/mill-street-springfield-missouri/ There is a google street view photo with it and as noted in the comments the street view is not the right location. I think it is here. Just to the left of the pole you can see the floor of the Lasco building. Even clearer on the top down view. Sanborn, sorry I don't know the date. Do you guys normally post the images full size or thumbnail? I did try to post this as a comment on the Archive posting but it wouldn't let me in. Is it a different login? Keep Safe Out There Rob
NARX 410. I think it's a Reefer. Note the light colored sides and ice hatches. The second boxcar is also a Reefer, note the open ice hatch, but the lettering is too fuzzy to make out. Rob
Street view aligned with the first image as best I can get it. Note the building to the right of the first boxcar with the stone plinth. Boonville is just behind you looking west. Another street view aligned with the 2nd cropped image. This is at N. Campbell looking west again. The 2 old buildings beyond N. Campbell are hiding behind the 1st boxcar. This would be a lot easier if Google didn't use such a wide angle lens. Rob
I'm laughing. MARX, NADX, potato, potahtoe. North American Car Corporation, also reporting marks NATX, HLX and PPKX, AAR Type "RS" bunker refrigerator, outside length 43'. This from the 1943 Official Railway Equipment Register (ORER), which only shows 1 car in the 400-499 series. Don's photo clearly looks earlier based on the autos on Mill Street. And this scene, Rob R., looks custom made for a British style layout with fiddle yard or sector plate at one or both ends. Looking forward to seeing how this shapes up. Best Regards,
