Here's a photo of 2-8-2 #4209 cresting Adamsville Hill out of Birmingham on its way to Sipsey with empties for the coal mines, ca 1950.

Don Wirth added smoke and steam exhaust to make the scene very authentic. I can hear the shouts beating in the hills as the engine begins to accelerate from its tortured climb.

Thanks Don. This is my favorite model photo ever. Enjoy.

  3. That’s a great photo. The smoke looks good. Easy to see a steam fan did it not a photoshop artist. It looks realistic not overdone and out of scale.
    Nice job guys.

There was only one ever done that way, number 91062. I guess "Fast Freight" didn't exactly fit the image of a coal hauler?
