Meramec River Crossing - Bridge 45.3 - Moselle, MO, MP 46.0 - Rolla Subdivision The Eastern Division crosses the Meramec River once again a little east of Moselle MO at MP 45.3. The bridge consists of a through truss, with through plate girder spans on either side. Notice that the piers are skewed to minimize interference with the current. Photographs taken on July 6, 2007. Photographs by Rich Lawler. Edit 2/2/2024: Bridge steel portion consists of two 105'-0" through plate girders (TPG) and one 164'-0" through riveted truss (TRT). Total length of the steel portion of the bridge is 374'-0". The through riveted truss was fabricated in 1939. The east end bridge pier has a cast in concrete date of 1930. The east end bridge abutment has a date cast in the concrete of 1915. The Frisco crossed the Meramec River seven times in total. On the Rolla Subdivision it cross the river 4 times, on the Salem Branch 2 times and on the St. Louis Subdivision 1 time. Each crossing involves a substantial structure owing the the potential flood stage power of the Meramec. This is 4 of 4 bridges across the river on the Rolla Subdivision.
