Back track up the old Santa Fe (SKO) line and see what you find!
That's it. I couldn't beleive what I was seeing. That was the first time I had ever used live maps and I love it!
I remember when I worked for WATCO (SKOL) out of Cherryvale, on a rare occasion I would take a train from Cherryvale to Owasso. With the permission of my boss I would climb all over the 4500 when she was sitting in the Owasso yard. It was sad to see what vandals had done to her. I was glad to see the pictures on the net where they have given her a fresh coat of paint and done what they could to make her look beautiful again!
It is very possible. She sat in Owasso in the railyard for quite some time and from what I have heard, she has been sitting in Tulsa for 50 years or more. They don't tend to move her too often. The last update I read online they were waiting for the new "ARTWORK" to put the "METEOR" back on each side of the tender and are awiting for the completion of construction on the Route 66 memorial or whatever it is before they can move her to the new location. I also read that they still arent certain of her placement there and that she still may be in Danger of a Date with a torch. I try to keep up with her status as best I can. This way if she does go to meet a torch, maybe we can jump in and stop this and maybe find her a home.
Yes, she's still there in that same spot as of today. Her final resting place is coming along. But at a real slow pace. They finally have the track down, that she'll eventually sit on.
