AND rosuvastatin! (Crestor generic) I tried controlling cholesterol via diet back in the 90's but my liver just wouldn't quit making it.

    Quick update on Keith.

He had surgery this afternoon to repair the valve. It went well and he is now in cardiac intensive care.

They took him into surgery about 1:35. His wife sent a message that he was out about 4:00. After a short stay in post surgery, he was sent to the intensive care unit about 5:00. If all continues to go well, plan is to move him into the regular cardiac care floor late tomorrow. Current plan is to send him home in 4 to 6 days. After about a month of recovery, anticipate he will have 6 to 8 weeks of cardiac rehab.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Quick update.

Keith remains in intensive care as of Tuesday evening. Overall condition is slowly improving.

He is very tired. It is difficult to sleep in a hospital with folks constantly checking on you, drawing blood, all the noises, funky beds, next to no fluff pillows, etc.

Beds are currently at a premium on the regular cardiac care floor.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

Cardiac surgery of any sort tends to burn up any energy reserves one may have had beforehand. I bet he's looking forward to a normal bed and a good night's sleep!

Thanks for the update, Mark D. Send our best wishes and Godspeed for a quick and full recovery his way. I'll try to text him once I'm fairly certain that he's caught up on some rest. 8^)

    Quick update.

Keith continues down the track to recovery.

He has reached two more important milestones. First, at 1:00 this morning he was moved from intensive care to a "regular" cardiac care floor. This is a less intensive level of care and shows progress. Second, his digestive system plumbing restarted and became active again. Another important milestone after drugs that can repress normal activity wear off and a lack of physical activity or mobility contribute to plug stuff up.

He has some discomfort from the surgery and having his ribs spread, especially when standing. He is still on a low level of oxygen, but is being weened off. Now that he is out of the intensive care unit he is able to have visitors beyond only immediate family. Moving out of the largely semi-isolation will be another boost for his spirit.

Just got off a very shorth call with Keith. We were interrupted by nurses that had just come in to remove more electrical and fluid plumbing. This will help improve his ability to get up and around in his new room and adjoining floor halls. Again, another step forward that puts the goal of seeing the outer hospital doors and that valuable trip home closer. He may be in another day or two is all continues well.

Have passed along all your kind thoughts. He and his wife are most thankful for everyone's support.

Will update again as I learn more.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Mark
