I have always had a love of trains and railroads as I come from a railroading family. My grandmother was a guide on the Colorado Midland Railway's wildflower excursions in the 1913 to 1918 period. My grandfather worked for the Colorado and Southern in the 1920's, my father worked as a fireman on the CB& right after World War II. I worked in the passenger traffic department of the CB&Q in Denver in the early 1960's. I was then transfered to Rice Yards in Denver, where I worked for the Colorado and Southern, Santa Fe and the CB&Q as a Permament Car Inventory clerk. I also was heavily involved with a passenger railroad project to operate passenger trains from Salt Lake City to Denver via Southern Wyoming, after AMTRAK moved their trains to the D&RGW and Colorado.

I have owned an RSD15 that came off the Uinta Railroad and a private ex Union Pacific Observation Car that was off the UP's pony express. I am currently the President of the Englewood Colorado , "Englewood Historic Preservation Society"which is trying to save the Santa Fe Depot here in Englewood. This Mission Style Depot is where FTD floral started in 1915. We are fighting an uphill battle against developers; who of course will probably destroy it as is wont with developers.

I was fortunate enough to get to travel all over the country (when I was a young man) by rail in the 1950's and did ride on the Frisco, the MP, the CRI&P and a number of other fallen flag roads. I am passionate in my belief that we need great trains again.

Jim, you are welcome here. I started with Frisco but worked as Roadmaster in Denver for BN (83) Rice Yard was supposed to be shut down, but they still used it. I also worked the C&S territory quite often. I worked with Bill Ferryman quite a bit and was on the scene second behind Bob Jabens at the Boulder head-on. I also worked the Commerce City Christmas Eve derailment. I was also at Wiggins Head-on. So I know the area. Here is a shot of me ditchin north of Cheyenne.
