I just received a message from one of my pushers (sales@hobbiesusa.com) listing a huge sale on Intermountain items. They are offering them at 40% off the listed price. One Frisco item is listed and that is the B/Y B-Units in both sound and-non sound versions. The sound ones are $98.97 ($164.95 list) and the non-sound ones are $56.97 ($94.95 list). On the sound unit thats less than the cost of the decoder!

To access the list I think you will need to sign up for their email flyer at hobbiesusa.com or just email me at FriscoFriend@cox.net and I will forward it to you. There are lots of other goodies on there.

There are actually two items listed and the other one is the black two bay covered hopper which came in 6 road numbers and is $19.17 (list $31.95).

I saw the Frisco black 2-bay LO on the Intermountain list released this morning and ordered another one.

That is a VERY nice model, folks.

Built 1950 and ran into the late 1970's-early 1980's, some of 'em may still be around in MOW service. Used widely in general service for fairly heavy density lading - lots of silica sand shipments, also cement, chemicals, etc.

I was in the chem biz ..... love those covered hoppers! And t/c's.

    Ken:

Did any survive until 1980 in black?

    Bob -

Good question! The answer is probably not.

Bowser did this car as a kit in Frisco black several years ago - nice, but not as nice as this IRC car. Bowser also offered it in gray with the large F R I S C O lettering on the side as repainted in the 1970's, as SLSF 83703 appears on page 98 in Molo. That's how most, if not all, of these cars spent their late Frisco careers.

    Ken:

Look on Condren's site and under MOW look at the bottom hopper and tell me if you think it is still black?

Bob - Assuming you are talking about 104375, yes, it looks black to me - well weathered black. Looks like this guy has led a rough life!

That's great to know. I found the link, but when I clicked on it and it only gave me the option of yahoo and gmail, and I use hotmail. How do I get on this list if I use hotmail?

    Ethan:

Just go to the Intermountain site and the link to the sale items is at the top of the home page. There are two lists, an old one and a new one. The F7B is on the old one and the covered hopper is on the new one. If you find something you want then email Mitch & Bill at sales@hobbiesusa.com and they will email you back.

For the N scaler there is one item, the PS 5277 cu. ft. boxcar in 6 road #'s. Sorry that I didn't see that before. It is on the previous sale list.

Another online hobby shop had the N scale 100-ton covered hoppers on sale at a very nice discount- I picked up 5 of 'em. They're very nicely done!

Surprise! I just heard back from HObbiesUSA regarding my order for one more Frisco 2-bay covered hopper from the Intermountain "List 2" sale we have been talking about. HObbiesUSA advises me IRC says they are "sold out".

    Didn't last long, did they?

I replied back with a question - does IRC mean the specific number I ordered is sold out (I ordered just one of the six numbers), or are they saying all six numbers are sold out? I'll advise.

Told you this was a nice model!

Bill & Mitch replied back to me also that they were sold out. I told them in my request that I didn't care whcih road # I got so I think we can assume they are all gone. Ken please post the response that you get from them.

Following is the response I received this morning from HObbiesUSA regarding the IRC Frisco two-bay covered hopper.
    ..............
Nope, they sold out of all 48609, don’t know how many they had to start with.
    Thanks,
    Bill & Mitch

Didn't last long, did they? I ordered one immediately upon seeing the sales notice, and didn't get it. IRC either didn't have many available, or somebody bought up a bunch of them.
