I stumbled across a pair of IHC E7's the evening. They are wearing the scheme that the Frisco shared with the Katy. And the person that listed the item failed to neglect that the Frisco coonskin is before the Katy logo on both locos, but they did mention Frisco in the description. Looks like they don't know what a b unit is either. Oh well, its still a rare Frisco package. http://cgi.ebay.com/MKT-Katy-Railro...wItemQQptZModel_RR_Trains?hash=item439e43c760

Well they're "sort of" correct. There's supposed to be a silver (Stainless steel actually) panel under the cab window where the heralds are mounted. The Katy herald was forward on their engines (101-A and 101-C), Frisco's was forward on their engines (2000-2003). Also the lettering is kinda hokey and the trucks should be silver/aluminum.

Here's my beef with model RR manufacturers--Not with how the feel they have to market (Pre-orders, club orders, fire sales etc.), but research! With all the chat boards and RR historical and modeling societies all over the place, there's no excuse for not having somewhat accurate models. The information is "out there!"
Take this budget set of Texas Special engines for instance: No one that's ever looked at a Texas Special locomotive photo would have come up with this ficticious paint scheme! To go to the trouble (And I'm sure, the expense) of having a tri-color paint scheme and not get it correct is really silly! But, IHC isn't alone--Con-Cor, Lionel, Broadway Limited (Actually, BLI's was a Katy E-8 w/incorrect heralds) also a S scale mfr. whose name escapes my at the moment, and probably others. Granted, the Texas Special paint scheme is complicated, but so is the Santa Fe Warbonnet. SP Daylight, B&O blue and gray so on. How about the GN Empire Builder scheme or the contemporary BNSF diesel schemes?? There's just no excuse for not getting it "right" if you're going to the trouble and expense to do it all!

    Tom -

Agree! That's one reason I like Kadee so much - they seem to really research the specific car number they do so they are sure they are right before releasing it. Athearn Genesis and, usually, P2K (now Walthers), are others who do a pretty good job.

Examples of high quality, valued suppliers who messed up on HO Frisco models:

o The Intermountain Frisco b/y F7B ..... with dynamic brakes!
o The Atlas Frisco b/y GP7 ..... numbered in the wrong series for the GP7 phase they modeled!
o The Broadway Ltd Frisco o/w SW7 ..... wrong headlight!

But, things are a heck of a lot better now than they used to be for we Frisco folk!
