Ice Service reefer

    I am the digital archivist for the Missouri Pacific Historical Society. I was sorting scans today from a recently donated slide collection, and found this car, SLSF 109902 stenciled for "Ice Service Only". Thought I would share it.

    I do not have a date or location, but the photographer was from Carthage, MO, and traveled the greater surrounding area.

    Nice Ted! Thanks for posting this pic. It doesn't look like any of the SLSF reefers we have seen pictures of; they are older vintage. Wonder what the heritage of this car is.

    Thanks Karl. Cars look closely similar. They must have bought one or more old steel ART reefers from their Wabash/MoPac buddies to use as ice cars for the steel gangs. Makes sense.
