New member of the forum and wanted to say hello to everyone.

My name is Fred, I live in Charleston, AR now. I was born and raised in Ft Smith. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are riding the Frisco from downtown Ft Smith to Van Buren depot when my aunt was returning to Rhode Island. Dad would buy each of us a ticket for the short ride and we would board with Aunt Ruth to ride through the north side of the city. Mom and dad would hop in the car and drive to Van Buren to pick the 4 of us up at the Van Buren depot. It took me years to understand why I couldn't ride with Aunt Ruth and just take the train back after she got off!

I model both the Frisco and the A&M in HO scale. As that stretch from Van Buren to Springdale is the easiest for me to railfan, I can concentrate on the details there and get proto photos when I need trackside details.

Thanks for letting me join. I look forward to more info about one of my favorite railroads!

Welcome aboard. This train can take you pretty far. I've been seeing more chat about your area of interest on this forum lately so you're joining at a good time. I always thought people were talking about Van Buren, MO which proves my limited knowledge of the Frisco beyond my location and era of interest. Be sure to post up some pics of your layout or Frisco models. We love photos.
