I'm just getting into the model rr stuff, after living on the Frisco and Mississippian Railroads in northern Mississippi most of my life. I grew up with all the folks on the Mississippian and became obsessed somehow, with engine 77. I wound up returning her to steam on the Mississippian in the early 80's, and was the last steam engineer on the Mississippian railroad. After 77 went to Canada I had the priviledge to operate her in 1997, and again in 2002. I am looking for some help in modeling the 76 & 77 locomotives, and as I slip into retirement in the next few years, plan to build a layout of Frisco and Mississippian themes...The 76 & 77 seem to be and unusual wagon top 2-8-0 Baldwin, and I have not seen anything similar in commercial production...thanks in advance...highball ya'll...dennis

Welcome to the forum Dennis. My name is George. I live 300 feet from the Frisco mainline in Newburg, MO. I have been a Frisco modeler since 2002. Here is a little history of my town. In 1884 the Frisco built a roundhouse in Newburg which caused the town to exist. Unfortunate for Newburg, the Frisco replaced the steamers with all diesels in 1950, and by 1952 they had built an engine shop in Springfield, Missouri and the roundhouse was torn down. Now Newburg is mostly a ghost town with only 3 tracks remaining. The BNSF operates a ballast pile and tie pile on a siding here, and it has a 6300 feet passing siding, but that is all that is left. Hope you have fun on this forum.

Welcome to the forum. Don't know much about the MS part of the Frisco or the 76 & 77 steamers. Good luck with the project!

Dennis, check post number 113 from http://www.frisco.org/vb/showthread.php?t=2117&page=5 and download the article I wrote about my attempt at modeling 76. It's close, but no cigar. The crossheads are all wrong. The kits I used are no longer available, unfortunately. I showed the model to the owner/operator of the Gettysburg RR once. He pointed out a lot of other errors. I can't remember his name, but it's mentioned in the article.

I entered it in a NMRA contest years ago and didn't get the 87.5 points necessary for a merit award. I did, however, get first place for steam locomotives in that contest.

And no, it's not for sale.
