Dang, you guys are putting crazy ideas in my head! If a fella has all the dimensions and specs, why can't he build the crazy thing and set it beside his layout tracks? This is all your fault, Marc!
Then, if I do it, once it's finished, it will look really cool! The roof would be 41 x 120 so that would be about 6" x 18", not too bad.
Large depot? No problem in V scale!! John: GREAT diagrams. THANKS! BTW, we still haven't pulled off a tour of the Coal Belt area... and now I'm working 6 days a week. Andre
Large structures can be modeled by using selective compression as a way to proportionally downsize something that is too big to model in full size. Done carefully, the structure will still look accurate even though it is actually smaller. I made selective compressed drawings of the Tulsa Union Depot years ago off of actual measurements I made, and the results were pretty realistic, I think. Now, if I could just actually build the thing. Terry
Are the 1918 Van Buren track charts oriented with the compass, that is north toward top of page? I don't see any directional arrow. Thanks, Tom G.
Tom, first you would look at the mile posts. Then refer to the timetable and then determine direction by a road map. Most Track charts does not give compass direction because of the railroad has so many curves. Bill Jackson
