Seeking information on an accident, derailment or other incident that resulted in the early, premature retirement during the 1960s of three Frisco GP7s. The company’s third model GP7 retired in the 1960s was SLSF 530. This unit was a freight service only unit as it was not equipped with a steam generator. It was damaged in an accident on the Pensacola Subdivision at or about Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida on 7/5/1965. The unit was retired during 1/1966. It was used as trade in credit to EMD and scrapped. Looking for more specific details of the accident that resulted in the early retirement of this unit. I can match the date and location, but I can’t offer details with regard to the units involved. At about 7:30 AM during the morning of July 5, 1965, Frisco 835 struck a switch engine and cars near MP R914.65. At the location, the track is descending on a 0.7%+\- grade. A two degree, fifty five minute curve obscured the vision of both crews. Train 835 had 17 cars, and it was powered by 2 units. The train operating within yard limits, R898.7-R916.5, was about 1-1/2 hours late. All three units left the rails.
