    GP7 SLSF 529.

    Leon, KS.

Note also the wig-wag signal at the grade crossing. I did not know Frisco had used them.

    Photographer unknown.

    Slide is dated October 1968.

Edit 2/28/2014: Train is about to cross South Main Street. The depot on the north side of the track adjacent to the locomotives is no longer an open agency at the time of the photograph.

The structure was acquired by the local grain elevator company, Fleming Feed and Grain Company. Their address is 309 South Main Street, Leon, KS 67074. With its former agent / operator bay removed it was used for storage into the 1990s. Unfortunately, due to age and a lack of maintenance it was torn down.

Leon, KS, MP 472.8, is on the Wichita Subdivision. Train is westbound. View looking east northeast.

I remember seeing wig-wags at crossings along U.S. 60 Highway traveling from Springfield on the Willow Springs Subdivision Memphis main at various crossings.

Back when I was a little kid we traveled from Kansas City to Ava to see family. They even had them in Seymour, MO at one time.

Now they have flashing lights and gates at the crossings.
