Here are the latest 3 Athearn RTR engines for me. The SD45 is stock except for the horn and other roof and SLSF details.
The GP's had all the grabs, levers, eye bolts, Cannon anti climbers and I found some GP 50 Front/rear handrails and used them on these and Tomar Grya light housings. They are pulling on to the pit for the first time today, for a run and inspection by SLSF forces.
As you can see the Model Masters Sunburst Orange is a close match to the Athearn Paint. I tried something a little different on these. I simply masked the White off on a couple factory SLSF RTR engines and put on a couple light coats of the Model Masters Orange over the top of the Athearn Red/Orange. All the details were painted before installation on the model.
Richmond Controls lighting kits with all LED's were used, man those little LEDS will burn a hole in you eye if you look at them too long:) they are sure bright!
Unfortunately the ATSF SD45 that was working in pool freight service on this part of the Frisco this day suffered a prime mover failure and is DIC to the shop. It is a powered unit with a flywheel only on one end and the NWSL driveline going to the rear truck is just like the the real one turning the air compressor. More work for the "Consolidated Shops":)
    Regards
    Tom

Tom - Nice! I like the color - good idea on how to do it to an Athearn easily.

Tell the ATSF hogger to pull that sick unit over to the Frisco shops - they'll get it fixed for them.

    Thanks Colin
Yea it is a Caboose Ind. 202 S just painted a little and sitting on some ties.
I like to drive nails into the roadbase where the handle throws to keep the handle from being driven into the ground cover. Plus it makes it easier to grab
when you do want to throw it.
    Thanks
    Tom
