    Hello again.

I'm returning after a hiatus, a pruning and an update to my screen name. Formerly Frisco790.

Ten years, one month, and 10 days ago, I signed up on this board. Eleven years before that I joined the Frisco Museum in Springfield.

Jack is back after a recent major mid life change of events and a waltz across the Show-Me state. From near, where the Hannibal & St Joseph ended, to near where it began. The rich history of the Horribly Slow and Jerky is my railroad of special interest, but all of the fallen flags of Missouri's railroad history are of interest to me.

I've been an avid arm-chair model railroader since November of 1980. That's when I bought my first issue of Model Railroader, and was amazed by Eric Brooman's Utah Belt railroad. Soon after that, Dean Freytag's South Ridge Lines, Allen McClelland's V&O, Tony Koester's Allegheny Midland, Rick Rideout's L&N, David Barrow's Cat Mountain & Santa Fe, and the list goes on of the great model railroads that we all know.

In the early 90's, I became an active member and officer of an HO modular club and was able to learn and practice my modeling skills in building modules, and even built a couple of small custom layouts.

And then, like many, a family and a busy job nudged out the hobby and it was stored away, but not forgotten.
Our youngest graduated this past spring and has recently started collage, so we are empty nesters now.
We're moving onto a larger, more remote piece of land with a smaller house. My wifes home based internet sales business, which has been growing for the past ten years, will be taking up most of the basement.
That means the future railroad empire will be relegated to the 20'x80' lean-to attached to my shop.
Twenty-six years of various magazine subscriptions, books, building and railcar kits, engines and material purchases, and research has allowed me the time to plan a railroad, I hope I live long enough to start and complete.

    Jack

Welcome (back), Jack. Jacksonville's up US 63 north of Moberly, I think? At any rate, have fun getting back into the hobby and be sure to share progress, including photos, as time allows.

    Best Regards,

Welcome to the Frisco website again Jack! A 20 X 80 foot building is quite a lot of space to build a layout! I can say that all of us are looking forward to hearing and seeing the results. Good luck with your layout!
