Does anyone in frisco.org have any diagrams of Frisco stock cars they could post? SLSF 46000's, SLSF 47000's, SLSF 89000's? Ken
This is best I can come up with - ACF builder drawings. Note says that cars were built for the ATSF, GM&O, IC, MKT, MP, RI, SLSF, UP. They are not the best quality.
I'll have to go rummaging, but Mainline Modeler had an article and drawings of one of them some years back.
Don - Yes, you are right! I had forgotten. I have that article - Mainline Modeler, December, 2001, p58-62. Vince Griesemer scratchbuilt stock car SLSF 47209. It looks like Vince's work served as the basis for the Sunshine model #54.7. I pulled that kit out and was taking a look at it - that's why I asked about diagrams. Thanks. Ken
Ken-You are correct, Vince worked up the masters for both the 47200 and the 47700 series cars as well as a number of other Frisco cars that are offered by Sunshine Models. I am always amazed at his work on masters. Brad
Ken, FMIG Newsletter #4 has drawings (and I determined so very easily thanks to the initial work you provided on the newsletter index!). I'm reluctant to repost information that's already available on this forum, but I'll do so regardless so that the drawing is more readily accessible. Best Regards,
Chris - Thanks. How easily we forget! Ken ps: The November, 2001 issue of Mainline Modeler has a nice article by Bob Hundman on Frisco stock cars. It includes a drawing of SLSF 47667, the diagram for the SLSF 47200-47699 series, and several nice pics. I'm sure this is the MM article that Don remembered.
Other then the Mainline Modeler article, does anyone now of any other SL-SF stock car photos? Thanks Mike.P
Mike - The Western Rail Images has a partial photo of #47397 at St. Louis in 1956: http://www.westernrailimages.com/Fr...-Francisco/7187638_Rnc4S#660073827_M5arF-A-LB Somewhere I had digital images of an individual stock car and a line of stock cars at Lindenwood that Vince Griesemer provided in exchange for a system wide list of stock pens...but they may have been lost in a computer crash. I'll have to see if I burned them to a disk. Best Regards,
Any Chance someone could send me the drawing out of this issue of Mainline Modeler. ? It appears they are out of business.....
Someone may be interested in this pdf of the Sunshine Models temporary flyer for #65.7 with photo of the model of 47805 and prototype information on Frisco stock cars in general. (Source: http://www.sunshinekits.com )
I have purchased and received the Mainline Modeler issues (Nov and Dec 2001) with the Frisco stock car articles. I will scan and post here if we can get permission. Who would I ask? Mainline Modeler is no longer in business.......
Robert Hundman always posted in Mainline Modeler that he did not have an issue with items in the magazine being copied for personal use. They just can be reproduced for commercial gain. Based on that, he explicitly and implicitly gave permission to copy.
Just LOOK at the steam engine dead line in the large photo! Too bad the photographer didn't walk down that row with his camera! Tom
...and the lead engine in the "dead line," 4137 is also the one pulling the example train on page 3 of the article!
So, I was hoping to find some aerial photos of the KC yards during the 1951 flooding.. The flood was extensively photographed, so I thought there should be something out there. Well I was wrong. However, I did run across this all-to-far-away photo that included a bunch of Frisco stock cars. And a couple of cabooses.
