Hello all. What an amazing website! Congratulations to all who participate here. I am a map dealer trying to learn more about some maps in our inventory. My current project involves a map of Oklahoma prepared by George Cram in Chicago for a "Oklahoma Farm Mortgage Co." in Oklahoma City. The map shows a "proposed" St. Louis and San Francisco line from Oklahoma City to Cornish. An old thread told me that this line was "proposed" in 1909 but I can't find any more about it. Does anyone know when it was first proposed, if it was subsequently built, and if so when? Appreciate the help! Michael

I looked in my 1909 Frisco Annual report to see if I could discover anything with regard to the proposed line. The the color, fold-out system map indeed depicts the line you mention, but a cursory reading of the document fails to reveal anything further about the proposed line. I'll have to re-read the annual report, and see if I can turn up anything further.

I also consulted a document, Railroad of Oklahoma, published by the Oklahoma DOT, January 1, 1970 and revised July 1, 1974 and again April 1, 1978. Contained in the DOT document is "the Railroads of Oklahoma, Bulletin No. 60, by Preston George, who was with the Oklahoma Highway Commission, and by Sylvan Wood of the Oklahoma Ag & Mech College. Bulletin No 60 was published during 1943 by The Railway & Locomotive Historical Society.

No mention of this line is given, nor is this line listed in the table, which contains the railroad abandonments. I think that it's safe to assume that the line was never built.

A more detailed reading is required.
