    New Kadee Caboose Trucks

    Howdy folks,

Kadee has begun shipping new caboose trucks. Can someone take a look at these and let us know if they would go with Frisco cabooses? While they are not cheap, they do look nice.

    Here is the link: http://www.kadee.com/htmbord/page580.htm.

    Best regards,
    mike

    Re: New Kadee Caboose Trucks

Mike - I haven't seen the new Kadee caboose trucks yet, but the other new Kadee trucks they have released since mid-2010 are really nice, and an improvement over the original Kadee series. The ASF A-3 and the Barber S-2's are really nice additions.

I'll order a few pairs of the caboose trucks - I'd like to re-truck my Overland 3-window cabs as their trucks look good but do not roll well. The Tichy caboose truck is also nice, and costs a lot less than the Kadee.

    Howdy,

Here is a photo of the new KAdee 580 caboose trucks. They really look nice.

So, are they appropriate for Frisco cabooses?

    Best regards,
    mike

Mike - From the small picture, they look close enough to me. Is the leaf spring real, or is it a plastic insert?

I haven't ordered a pair yet - got to do that.

    Howdy,

The spring is cast metal. I didn't show the brake rigging and unique flex setup, but they do seem to roll nicely. The layout will tell for sure.

    Re: New Kadee Caboose Trucks

These Kadee #580 trucks would go under the wood three-window cabooses, not any of the later wide-vision cabs (ICC & home builts) or the home-built bay windows. These are leaf-spring, non-roller bearing "Bettendorf" type trucks.

Kadee has now also just added Arch Bar caboose trucks. Would these be approiate for any older cabooses?

    Re: New Kadee Caboose Trucks

Plus, in addition to the new arch bar leaf sprung caboose trucks, Kadee is also adding 50-ton National B-1's, 70-ton Barber S-2 roller bearing, and a new 100-ton roller bearing 36" wheel truck to their line. Trucks, trucks and more trucks! Wheeee!

This thread is for posting questions, comments, and pictures relating to frieght, passenger, and caboose trucks including cars and locomotives used by the Frisco Railroad.

Is this thread going to be under modeling or prototype? I think the "trucks" thread originally started with a post on Kadee HO caboose trucks??

Congratulations, Tom on the well-thrown curve-ball "Is this thread going to be under modeling or prototype? I think the "trucks" thread originally started with a post on Kadee HO caboose trucks??" !!

The topic clearly fits both places. General discussion under "History" can be a resource for people trying to determine what equipment was used. Discussion under "Modeling" can point people to compliant model products by providing reviews of manufacturers' offerings.

Of course, a quick glance at a thread may not inform the reader which scale the thread covers...

Any discussion regarding what type of trucks were used should be placed on this thread. If there is sufficient volume, we can sub-divide and create a new sub-forum after-the-fact.

I think all the catagories should be "Prototype" and "modeling" shold just be blended in as needed. You would only need "Trucks" as a heading, then if someone has a post about modeling a certain kind of truck it could just be attached.
