Can anyone tell me the color combinations of depots in the early steam era? I've seen a picture of Neodesha, KS in what looks like a two-tone brown scheme, tan with brown trim, and a black and white photo of Fall River, KS in what looks like dark colors. Thanks in advance.
I had read up on this subject a few years ago while building my Zalma combination depot. I came up with grey walls with white trim. I can't recall my sources.
The old station at Turner, MO, the first stop east of Springfield on the Memphis line, circa 1946 was gray with a dark gray trim. After 1948 or 1949 or so, the station was painted the same medium gray, but with white trim for window frames, etc. Don't know if that is "official" or not, but I went by there a lot as a kid as Turner Station was near our family farm. Here's a link to a photograph of the later scheme. http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/turner-mo-mp211-7.442/ Tom
I model the 1880s. Most of the Frisco pictures I have from that era that have depots in them show them in darker colors. Oxide red? Dark green? Who knows? Not I. If the picture is just a few years later you might see the depot in what appears to be white. Andre
