I was looking for some info about a bulldozer that had gone over a cliff in Delta in 1943 when I stumbled onto two Frisco-related stories. One tells about a woman who left Cape en route to Advance and gave birth in Delta. She named the baby after the train conductor. The other, mentioning the same conductor, Gene Burgess, talks about armed men boarding the train in Lilbourn and demanding to search the train.
Ken, thanks again. You are always welcome to post links to interesting pictures and stories you find.
The Frisco Employee Magazine has a slightly different version of the same story. Please see page 27 on the far right-hand column http://thelibrary.org/lochist/frisco/magazines/fem_1930_01/fem_1930_01_26.pdf
Ken, the aerial photos are great, the lighting notwithstanding. For we train folk, the old Frisco Hoxie Subdivision line and wye connecting to the old Missouri Pacific/Iron Mountain line is pretty evident. Off-topic, it sounds as if your aerial excursions depart from Painton. The last time that I flew with my Grandpa in the late 80s or early 90s was from Painton; it was my first and last sod-strip takeoff and landing, and was a bit harrowing! Best Regards,
