    Hi All:

I've noticed some pretty convincing looking canvas cab awnings on some of your models over the past months.

    How are guys doing it?

In the past I used styrene... but wasn't completely happy with the results.

Seeing as I will eventually be building some Frisco models again... would like to do a better job with the canvas shades/awnings.

    Thanks!

I use paper that's not quite as thick as an index card. I paint it with a color called aged concrete and glue it on with CA. Then I weather it with steam power black along with the rest of the loco. The paper can take rough handling and can always be bent back into shape in case it gets mashed up against the cab. I've tested this.

    Paper, huh?

    Who'd a'thunk it.

I'll have to tinker with that.

    Thanks Jim.
