I can understand if some Frisco fans still dislike BN and BNSF. However, even though I can remember Frisco rolling stock very well, I actually grew up during the BN era (post-Frisco & pre-BNSF). So I would like to know...is there a site for BN similar to frisco.org and if so, what is the url?

Don't know of a site but I found this the other day and found it to be very interesting. The unique thing about it was that it was from an October 19, 1922 newspaper! (SEE ATTACHED)

Somewhere in the dusty, cobweb-filled recesses of my brain I recall seeing a group called Friends of the Burlington Northern Railroad. You may try Googling that & see what you come up with.

FYI ..... I was a member of FOBNR several years ago - for two or three years as I recall. It wasn't bad, but I let my membership drop. They had lots of articles about the western end of the BN system - the GN and NP parts, but barely mentioned the eastern end of the system, the Frisco, or even the CB&Q, parts of the BN.

Ken, I know what you mean. The BNSF has yet to mention the Frisco to my knowledge. On the safety plates, they used some horrible pictures of the other railroads, but not one Frisco picture. I know there are a lot of beautiful pictures of the Frisco if they would just look. Some of the plates were so awful that my wife didn't even want them visible in the main part of the house. Sad:(. One picture of an E8, 4500, Meteor, TS would have blown those other horrible pictures away. By the way, this is not merely Frisco prejudice talking. Terry

I stumbled on to this BNlist@yahoogroups.com some time ago. they were friendly and quite knowledgeable, about Frisco stuff too, got the most detailed shots of GP 35 rooftop air tank piping I have ever found. But it just does not have the support, drive, membership and leadership the Frisco.org has. Thats what makes this site special.
The FOBNRR turned into a spam generator for me, so I quit some time ago, maybe things have changed.
I agree with Terry, some of those plates we get from BNSF defy logic at best sometimes, some have nothing to do with RRing at all. All some have to be note worthy, is the artist.
Having been to FT. Worth a few times on RR business I found the only connection BNSF has to RRing was trucked to the outfit and placed on tracks as a grand entrance to BNSF "clusterdome central". The thing that impressed me the most about that place was that BNSF has spent millions on this place, the $1500.00 suites that are walking everywhere you see, you can't even hear a whistle, and it is amazing how disconnected the whole thing is to the business they propose to lead. Scores of good people there that wouldn't know which end of a locomotive to climb on. Not that I am disgruntled or angry, but it just genuinely bewilders me.
    Oh well.
