I know this is an old thread, Mike, but the Soundtraxx Tsunami TSU-750, #827014 GE/Cummins Diesel Switcher is the exact match. The speaker goes in the bottom of the fuel tank area (a 1/2" speaker - but not Soundtraxx's 1/2" - it's too big), and the decoder unfortunately must go in the cab. Keith Jordan here in KC has installed three locally and one works the Ash Grove Cement plant in Chanute, KS on Mike McLain's Katy Northern Division layout here. With the momentums set at 32 and 128, braking set at 112, subtract value from baseline, the operation is really realistic.

PM me if you want more info on setup.

    Howdy Keith,

Thanks for the information. I had forgotten this thread.

A long while back, I purchased a micro Loksound decoder with dual Cummins and plan to write a meteor article about making new hand rails and painting to match the Frisco theme. I may not use the 1/2" speakers, but mount a larger one in the cab. Won't know until I experiment!

The 45 tonner will work the Pinto, a car barge in the Texas Western's Houston harbor. While a little off geographically, it lets me run one more bit of coonskin fun on the TWMRC.

    Best,
    mike

The Loksound sound file is unfortunately for the GE 44t with the dual Caterpillar V8 engines, whereas the 45t had dual Cummins L6 engines.

    Sound comparison files attached.

YEOW -- Anyone want to buy a brand new Cat V* Loksound decoder? At the time, it was the only game in town. Thanks Keith, mike
