I'm going to start selling off some of my newer Frisco o/w units - too many locomotives around here for my small, crowded layout plus I'm really a Frisco b/y guy anyway!

I have a surplus Athearn HO Frisco GP40-2, powered, SLSF 761, in the mandarin orange and white scheme, new, in the original box and data sheet. This has been out of the box sitting on the railroad for over a year - has been run perhaps no more than five minutes. Runs fine. All-wheel drive. This is the new Athearn Horizion model, not the old Blue box Athearn stuff.

    This is Athearn item 79681

The GP40-2 is decorated well, a decent shade of red/ornage, factory blackened grills, class lights, number boards & window gaskets. Athearn supplied Kadee compatible couplers, nicely thin handrails front, rear and sides.

I'm asking $44.00. Cost new was $69.95 so this is a good deal for an essentially new, unused unit. Shipping cost will be actual USPS Priority Mail to your Zipcode.

Anybody who is interested in this popular Frisco unit - send me a private message to Meteor910 or an e-mail to meteor910@mindspring.com

Thanks. Probably more o/w units to follow.

I have one of those. Unless it is a newer model than mine, my 761 had the BB drive.

It may have the updated Athearn Blue Box drive - I don't know, I've not had the shell off of the chassis to see. My point is - this model is not an Athearn Blue Box model - Athearn did not include a GP40-2 in the Blue Box line.

It's not a Kato, but it runs fine.

What I was saying was it came in a RTR box. So I thought it was going to be like my C44. I took the shell off. It had a BB drive set up.

Athearn's "Blue Box" products were not RTR, but rather "shake the box" kits. Since Horizion took over Athearn, all the Athearn locomotives I have seen have been true RTR units with, at best, just a few little details to stick on.

FYI, Athearn GP40-2, SLSF 761, has been sold to another division of the vast Frisco.org railroad empire. Thanks to those others who were interested in it.
