Getting back into the modeling end of the hobby after a lengthy lay off. Been around seemingly forever (went to the first SPM meet) and finally retired to start building again.

With all the RR stuff still sitting a storage locker, I wil eventually be able to get access to the hundreds of photos taken over the years. I hope.

Hey "Old Guy" (Who's probably no older than me or any of the other graybeards on here)--Got any Frisco passenger car photos in that stash? To share? Or to sell even?

    Thanks, Tom

Hmmm, can't reply using the Reply With Quote feature

Tom, I don't have very few passenger car photos. I got interested in the Frisco late in the game and they were all gone. Although I got one being dismantled, it was on it's side at the time.

The real sad part is that all my notes on what was photo graphed, when and where got destroyed in a basement flood. The slides/photos were higher up than the notebooks.

Robert, sometimes hitting the "Reply with Quote" button a second time helps for me.

Once you have your photos pulled out, may I respectfully request that you scan and post! Scan and post! Scan and post! Even without the reference notes, it might make for fun on the board to have folks pitch in to see if they can help with locations, etc. I dare say that most of the Frisco Folk will be able to fill in a lot of blanks.

Is your location Sunrise Beach, Mo.?

Oh yes, and welcome to the group!

    Best Regards,

I will most definately scan and post what I got. I have learned and gotten so much info here, it is only fair that I post in return. Once our guests leave this weekend, the Bosslady and I will be going through the storage locker to find my four boxes of photos and slides. Afterall, one needs to keep busy during the winter.

And yes, I am in Sunrise Beach. I will be building an oversized garage to house the layout. And since we live on Lake of the Ozarks, it maybe one of the few model railroads accessable by boat.

Well, I've found that my friends here in Columbia that have get-aways down in your parts always ask: "What mile marker?" :) I've often thought that one could build a small, fun N-Scale layout on a pontoon boat.

    Best Regards,

I need to update my welcome a bit. As part of our remodeling efforts (to begin sometime this year) I will be building an oversized 2-car garage, but with just one car-bay. The remaining are will be split up into an "L" shaped area. The vertical section should wind up being 14x36 and the horizontal section being 12x14. Not knowing what can fit in this size, I ran across Steve Priest's layout in the MR layout page and then Cliff Power's MAG route from an internet search for something. Anyway, these two gave me the inspiration of what can be done in such an area. Then next came, okay now where. When was already set in the mid-60's. My travels have taken me all over eastern KS and southwest MO, so I know the terrain. I was waffling between old MoPac and old Frisco lines that ran through these areas. I like both, but the MoPac folks are very stingy with their reference material, and you guys are absolutely the best with sharing knowledge. Soooo, I'll be protolancing the Clinton sub, to a degree. In my version of history, a shortline operator, M O & G, took over operations just before more coal was found along the line along with a few oil deposits. HQ will be Clinton with the yard back in full swing.

I have scoured all city and county museum online sites just trying to fine what businesses existed along with photos. I may need to adjust some businesses, such as the marble operations in Carthage, flower growing in Neosho, shoe manufacturing in Monett, and such, a little further north to allow me to get these industries into my realm of operation. Many of the old grain mills that once existed along the will have remained in operation. I agree than the old Sanborn maps are a great tool, but since most online version end around 1900, I'll have to make up a bunch of stuff. Since most of the layout will be, at most, 2-feet wide, I should be able to get some decent runs between towns since it will be a double deck affair.

And I spent four hours in a very packed 20x20 storage unit looking for my photos & slides and couldn't find diddly. At the very back is an area about 18 feet wide by 5 feet deep and 8 feet high of the train stuff and I couldn't even get to close to it.

Yardmaster - It would be interesting to do, but considering how choppy the water can be, one couldn't keep any cars on the track. FYI - we are at the 11MM.

Welcome! I have some of the same thoughts, however I
decided on Aurora, Mo which had SLSF and MP both.
Lots of good stuff on both railroads.

    Good luck
