Some one a while back questioned about GP20's touring the Frisco. Well, about 27 years ago, they were everyday power on my old layout. Here is whats left. I had done 2, but don't know where the other one went. They were TYCO [ Mantua] locos, and were not bad. As I have mentioned elsewhere, back then not only was I not a rivit counter, I was lucky to count the wheels!

Ahhhhhhhh.........those were the days. We were grateful to have something that closely resembled the real thing. Now, as with everything else, we demand perfection from everyone but ourselves. :D

Boy, isn't that the truth? I look at my early models now and just cringe!!
Oh well, life 101 is about growing and learning.

I have a P2K GP20 included in my locomotive roster - but it's an EMD demo unit, EMD 5628. For kicks, I run it with Frisco GP7's, F-units, etc. and with some of my PRR stuff. Somewhere I have a reference that the Frisco really did take a look at the GP20 when the demos were running around. At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! :)

I do think the GP20's did demo briefly on the Frisco, but the SLSF F's, FA's and GP7's were still in the prime of their life then, and, more importantly, the SLSF likely didn't have the capital to take on a bunch of new EMD's until several years later - when the GE U25b and the GP35 came around.
