Looking For at lest 3 Cary 4-4-0 boilers for Frisco 3500's. If you have one to sell or know of someone that my has, please PM me. I Will Pay postage. Thanks Jason Ross Bham Sub-Div RR|-| Bham AL
Hey Jason, I PM'd you so hopefully that will help. On a side note, Frisco 3500 class? Those are 0-6-0's. Care to elaborate?
|-|Frisco 3500's are rebuilt Frisco 4-6-0 539-548. They where built by the Springfield Shops from 1922-23. Bham had two that I know of: 3545 and 3548. The reason I'm looking for the 4-4-0 Cary Boiler is a model project being done in the FMIG June 1981 pg 13, made mention that the "SLSF 3545 is almost the same except for a steel cab." I've been looking for something that would do the 3500's justice, model wise. I just want to thank who ever posted those FMIG newsletters. What a wealth of great modeling information. Now, my quest begins, for my holy grail , three 4-4-0 Cary Boilers. You found two for you , now its my turn. One day my layout will be built and I will see my Frisco 3545 0-6-0 going about switching on the Bham Sub-Div Railroad c1940-1950. later Jason Ross Bham Sub-Div RR Bham AL
Interesting. I saw the locomotives you were talking about on the board last night. Now you have sparked my interest. What drive train are you looking at using?
I don't know if this is feasible, but what about following the example of the prototype and using a boiler from a Baldwin 4-6-0? The HO Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-0 looks a lot like the photo of SLSF 539 that appears in Stagner's "Steam Locomotives of the Frisco Line." I'm not sure what one would use to duplicate the chassis. Is there a readily available six-wheel HO steam drivetrain that comes close to matching the driver spacing of the prototype?
SABRR, You might want to check it out. Also they have a FMIG on the 0-6-0's that might prove worth the look see. It may help you on our 0-6-0 project. later Jason Ross Bham Sub-Div Bham, AL
Bradley, Ive thought on that a long time. The 4-4-0 looks like what I need. Ive looked at using the 2-6-0's and the 4-6-0's. It dosen't have the feel I want with my Protype. The chassis will be easier to work with using a 0-6-0 that I have here. Thanks for your thoughts Later Jason Ross Bham Sub-Div Bham AL
Can anyone help me on this? With over 100 hits I thought that at lest one of the group could have one Cary 4-4-0 boiler to sell me. Jason Ross Bham AL
Hey Jason, I've been searching for you since you posted up. I haven't found any yet. But I'm not quitting. As soon as I find one or some, I'll post up. They will show up. Give it some time. Right now, the sting of Bowser's discontinued steam kits is still pretty high so folks are hording, but are slowly letting go...
Hey Jason, As soon as I find one, I will pass it along to you. Post up a request on HO SCALE YARD SALE. They are part of a Yahoo group.
I'm a memeber too Manny . Thanks for doing that , helps me from trying to remember how to post on there , still dont remember how . Ok, good deal. Thanks again Manny.|-| I hope all of you who reads these can help or at lest ask for me, Please !
Jason, I got a hit off HOYS. He has several of the boilers both lead and die cast for the Mantua drives. I emailed him back to find out how many he has total and how much he wants. I'll get you further details as soon as I get them. Here is a copy of his words from his mail: Hi, I've got several of these, all drilled for the Matua/General mechanism. Are you looking for the earlier lead one, or the later die cast. Have both. Thanks
