I enjoy learning about historical freight operations. Thank you for letting me join the forum and thank you everyone for being generous sharing information. I didn't know much about Frisco operations but I've learned a bunch in a few days. Using the documents shared here, I created a few simple maps showing through train schedules for the Frisco in 1962 and 1980 and the BN in 1988 for comparison. Even though I love the details, seeing the big picture helps me put the pieces together. Hope someone else enjoys it. Thanks again!
Thanks Julian! First, welcome to Frisco.org. I am sure you will find many resources and a lot of fun here. Secondly, I am a big fan and student of freight operations of the Frisco in Texas. A club I belong to, the Texas Western Model Railroad Club, is modeling Fort Worth and the Frisco's West, North, and City yards in the 1960's time frame. Your research will be most helpful. Thanks for your diagrams, they add a lot to the body of Frisco in Texas knowledge. I'm looking forward to more interesting posts about the Frisco in Texas. Happy rails, Mike Corley
Welcome, Julian. I, too, like the visual representation that a schematic such as yours provides. Thanks very much for compiling and sharing. I might add a thread to cross-reference this in the "Operations" section. Best Regards,
Thanks, Julian, for your freight service maps. I am a new member interested in the operations of the Frisco before 1980 and especially around Springfield. Do you have the Operating Data Sheets which the maps were based on? I am also looking for dispatcher train sheets, freight schedules and train blocking, yard blocking, local freight schedules with territories and other operating paper which could help me in presenting the totality (or as close as possible) of what was going on back them. Thank you! Glenn Fisher, Railroad Operations Archaeologist Cornwall PA
