Anybody have a theory, or does the caption indicate, what locale this is supposed to (or could) represent?

I think it's a fantasy setting. I don't know where there was street running in a busy area with a big Amtrak presence on a highline above??

My thought too. Anyway, nicely detailed scene.

This layout was featured in Model Railroader a couple of years ago.

Don't know and dont care, the main thing is slsf front page. Love the whole page. Like Rick Mc ship on the slsf. May all the model railroarders have a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

Can't remember whose layout this is, but it's also the subject of a pretty popular how-to video on street running. I borrowed it a couple of years ago from a friend and from what I can remember, the featured city was based on St. Louis. I agree with John Foster-it's nice to see "our" railroad get some exposure.
