Memphis Central Station. By the late eighties, most if not all of the track shelters were gone and only about two of the tracks were left. Not too many folks other than Amtrak customers came around here back then. This area was pretty rough. There was still a little old-school diner underneath all this that was still open until '90 or '91 near one of the structural supports that helped hold all this up.
This photo indicates that the E 8's where just put in service. The Leslie air horns, the eyebrow grab irons over the windshield, ladder grabs have not been installed.
