Day 9. No major change in Cynthia's condition, her oxygen has been turned up to 60% and her blood sugar is kind of high at 314. They gave her insulin to help, she is not diabetic that we know of. Joe
Day 10. Bad news, Cynthia's organ's are starting to decline. Her oxygen was turned up to 60%, blood sugar is 314 so they gave her insulin and they did an ultrasound on her heart. Will find the results tomorrow. Joe
Day 11. Cynthia is doing better, her oxygen is the same and I got the results of the ultrasound. She has a strong heart, everyone say Yeah!!! When I talk to her today she halfway opens her eyes and seems to responds to me. That didn't happen before today. She has a lot of people pulling for her and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. They are working. Here's a couple of photos of the St. Francis Hospital. There are 9,500 staff and 1,000 doctors working here. You can only see about a third of the hospital in the photos. Joe
Hi Joe, I am following along on your Cynthia’s progress. She sounds like a fighter! Sending thoughts and prayers you all’s way! Dale
Dale, Cynthia is a strong willed person and I know that it will get better. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!!! Joe
Day 12. Great news!!! They are waking up Cynthia today, she opened her eyes when I got to her room and responded to me. Can't describe the joy I'm feeling right now. The doctor said they will try to pull the ventilator by Christmas, that would be the best Christmas gift she has ever received. The important thing is for her to remain calm so it will speed up the process. Joe
Day 13. Merry Christmas Eve. It's a glorious day. Cynthia is fully awake and responding to everyone, the doctor said they would try to remove the ventilator this afternoon. Joe
They pulled out the ventilator at noon, Cynthia is struggling to breathe so they put a bi-pap on. Joe
Cynthia was struggling too much to breathe so a hour later they put the ventilator back in. They said they would try again in four or five days. Joe
Thanks for the update joe. Hopefully at least being awake for you is some progress. I am sure being on a machine so long will make it tough to get starting breathing on her own again for a while. Best of luck!
Day 14. Merry Christmas. Cynthia was awake when I got to the hospital early this morning. When I kissed her on the forehead I noticed she was sweating so I asked her if she wanted me to remove the blankets. She nodded yes. That's a great sign. They did an EEG a few minutes ago and I will probably get the results later this afternoon. Edit, changed EKG to EEG. Joe
Day 15. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they are working!!! Cynthia is awake and responding to everyone, they may try to remove the ventilator in a couple of days. The results of her testing is good and x-rays of her chest show most of the fluid is gone. Joe
