I fell in love with the Frisco and early on learned the famous slogan "FFF" and its meaning, "Frisco Fast Freight". This forum has been a great resource for learning things related to that. In the last couple of weeks it seems that the term "FFF" seems to me to have taken on a new meaning of sorts, that being "Frisco Forum Features" And for what it's worth, I never new before about the sheriff's badge in the corner and what it was for.
Re: Reputation I tend to agree with Jim as there is nothing wrong with rewarding someone for a good idea or accomplishment.
I was aware of the Reputation feature from early on but had not paid much attention to it. I have from time to time clicked on the Reputation icon to give someone a boost based on the quality of someones post but have not been real consistent. I don't believe we will be posting any Reputation statistics because it is not about competition or anyone being better than anyone else. We have a good group of people and everyone contributes something. I just wish we could find some way to get more people to post Frisco historical documents (track charts, locomotive and car diagrams, drawings, maps, etc) that they might have in their possession.
And ... Now that I know what it is - I will probably just continue to ignore it as usual; but, now I know it's there for me to use if I feel the need to boost up someone a little.
Note that under Sherrel's username he has two green bars, Fred (above) just has one. I just have one (I'm gonna cry). This is the outcome of this. The better "reputation" you get, the more green bars. Charlie
Sorry Charlie! Don't cry. Here, have some...You deserve it. You've been a nice boy. Now you have two bars.... LOL...
Well, I'll just wait since I was always the last kid to get picked all those 30+ years ago. Great! Now you made me have a childhood flash back!
Well, as long as I haven't been tossed out of the forum by now, I guess I must be doing OK. I am surprised that this forum would have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING that comes in green................
Re: Reputation And to think of all the Bars I have been to, you would think I could do a bit better Tom Holley
Charlie It doesn't worry me that it's there, and the folks here don't seem to be the sort to collect brownie points for the sake of having more of them than anyone else. It's not worth changing for the sake of changing Aidrian
I don't know if this is the same thread as I posted before or not, but I say get rid of it (Reputation feature). Just not needed. Same for the "blog" feature. If somebody wants to "blog," they have the whole www to do it without cluttering up this chat group. Most internet bloggers I've read are pretty presumptuous and self-important anyway, believing everyone is breathlessly interested in their musings. Just my opinion... Tom G.
I, too, am in favor of the reputation thing going away. We are going to have blogs though. The blogs you describe aren't the kind we will have here. Give it a chance. It won't clutter anything up. Charlie
