What color lenses were used in VO-1000 and RS-1 marker lamps when they were used in scheduled freight service? Extra freight service?
Rules 20 and 20(a) cover the operation of the class lamps. The Pyle National class lamps had clear "exterior" lenses, and they also had internal "color" (red and green) lenses which could be changed by means of a small lever. This lever is high-lighted by a blue box in the attached drawing.
Glenn, in direct answer to your question, see the image below of Rules 19 (a) and 20. (although Karl did provide 90% of the answer)
Glenn, There is a difference between class lights and marker lights. Class lights apply to the front of a train or locomotive. Therefore, they are subject to Rule 20. For regular (scheduled) trains the front of the train does not have flags or lighted class lights. If a regular (scheduled) train operated in multiple sections, all but the last section display green signals (flags and/or lights). For example, if a regular (scheduled) train operated in 4 sections, the first, second and third sections will display green signals (flags and/or lights) and the fourth (last) section will not display signals (no flags and/or lighted class lights). Extra trains (not regular scheduled train) display white class signals (flags and/or lights). Marker lights apply to the rear of a train or locomotive. Therefore, they are subject to Rule 19. Hope this helps. Thanks! Mark
Thank you all for clearing this up for me. It looks like the models will have "clear" lenses, and white flags when appropriate.
