Recently I purchased a CT 63-A Frisco Lines conductor's book. It was filled with several dozen train consists from the late 40's. Hopefully, as I download these I'll be able to share these. This is my first attempt at uploading files so I'm hoping these consists are able to be read. Edit 1/9/2024: Added train summary and note. MKD Train No 31, 9/16/1948 - Engine 4508, 10 loads, 15 empties, 926 tons. Note the steel load followed by an idler car. The steel load must have been excessive length for the loaded car, hence the idler or spacer car. Edit 1/9/2024: Added train summary and note. MKD Train No 32, 9/17/1948 - Engine 4508, 23 loads, 1 empties, 1,310 tons. Note set out one car in route.
Interesting! I was always under the impression that the CT-63 book was a passenger train conductor's document. Tom G.
Tom, you're right. The CT-63 book is for passenger train conductors. The "CT 63-A" book was modified/designed for freight train conductors. I also have a CT-63 with passenger train consists from '45-'48. Alan Schmidt from the Frisco Museum made copies and wrote a few articles in the museum's magazine based on the consists. As time allows, I'll try to scan and post them as well.
Phil, a big thank you for posting this and for any others that come this-a-way. Can't wait to dig into these further. Best Regards,
This is a consist for Train 31 from Springfield to Monett May 1, 1947. My first try at using Excel to put this together. I'll also be posting the original pages. They are faint but most can be made out.
These are the original pages for Train 31 of 5/1/1947. Edit 1/9/2024: Added train summary and note. MKD Train No 31, 5/1/1947, engine 4121, 6 loads, 18 empties, 709 tons. Note the steel load preceded by an idler car. The steel load must have been excessive length for the loaded car, hence the idler or spacer car.
Wonderful. Phil, do you or others out there know what "XT" would refer to for the tank cars? Best Regards,
It took a while and a bit of studying but I did find the answer to that. An "X" indicates an empty car.
