Back in the early '60s I started scouring the world for Frisco steam photos. At that time I discovered Art Johnson and a guy named Carlson down in TX. I bought hundreds of their small prints and cherished them over the years. However, I'm at a point where I have nearly everything either in negative form or enlargements, so I'm planning on selling the small prints. I'm not sure how to do this. I could sell by number series, or class or whatever. If anyone wants more info, please PM me or respond to this post.
Don - I'd suggest you sell them in small groups, say five to ten different prints, of a common number series. Selling the as individual prints would be quite cumbersome, yet selling the entire class would make them expensive, and too numerous, for someone who just needs one or two prints in that series, for example. Just a thought. I was successful at that technique in filling out my Diesel Era magazine collection. I bought large groups that were offered on eBay that had one or a few issues I needed in it. Then I back-listed the duplicates in smaller groups of consecutive numbers. Sold 'em all, and actually made a few bucks on the deal. Ken ps - Any diesels?
I'm interested Don! Anything of the smaller number series up to and including the 300 number series. The old 2600 series too. Really needing a fireman's side view of #72! Thanks! Tim
Yup! That's the one! I'm gonna try to scratch one in O scale. I've got several parts gathered already. Just want to make sure I get it as close as possible. Tim
Hi Don, Do you have any pictures of 2-8-0 #77? I spent my high school years working on that locomotive for excursion service in Sheffield, Alabama. And then as part of the engine crew until she broke an axle on a ferry trip/kindergarten special on the Southern between Wheeler and Courtland, Alabama in October 1972. We started out in Huntsville and were enroute to Sheffield.
