Are those your O&W re-skins? They look great. We have to figure out how to make a "torpedo boat!" George
No they are not. They are from another Trainz creator. Here's his website. http://socaltrains.weebly.com/locomotives.html All freeware. I thought about approaching him about adding a torpedo. It would take someone who has a high skill level in 3D modeling software like Blender. I'm not that guy... In theory someone proficient with Blender could create the torpedo and then use existing tools to add an attachment point to the original mesh for the torpedo. Did any other railroads use the torpedo setup on their GP35's? If so it might give him a little more incentive to create one. I did recently reskin some GP35's with running numbers that didn't have the torpedoes. I was a little reluctant to post any screenshots until I had found a way to attach a beacon. I also was experimenting with some different weathering techniques and early morning lighting schemes. Sorry if they seem a little dark...
Mile Marker 113.5 looking south. Just north of Osceola, Mo. You can see the KCCS to the left. The photograph was taken just a few days ago. In the photo you can see the older KCCS grade still visible today on the left if you look hard enough.
Nice way to compare. Your dog looks like he's having plenty of fun as well. Great job of recreating the landscape. It's like having your own personal time machine.
Thanks guys. The ground elevation was created with DEM (digital elevation model) data for the entire route. This very accurate data has been collected by NASA and the space shuttle using laser surveys. It's available for free download from various sources. In the beginning I used 3rd party software that applies the data to shape the terrain for the entire route. Then it's just up to me to apply ground textures, trees, grass, track, and other scenery. One of these days I might try to take some similar photographs from the west of Gallinipper Creek looking at the bluffs along the Osage River.
That's the best! Those weeds growing up through the tracks and the weeds in the field. You've really captured a believable scene. I can almost here those summer bugs buzzing and feel the humidity. Nice artwork.
I would think so... You've been working too hard on all the new features of frisco.org. Great job by the way!
Fantastically well done rusty track. Are some of those weeds Pofig's? What about the little yellow flowers? George
I love that track too. It's by a Russian creator. I cant remember his name right now. The route will only have part of the old KCCS but you'll still be able to run trains down it. I can't remember at the moment but i believe the SLSF used some of the old KCCS for a few years. Maybe someone can confirm that. Yes those are pofig's weeds. Nice eye. The small yellow flowers are by jankvis. He has a ton of free vegetation on the DLS. I'm using TS2010 but I think I'm close to getting TS2012. The first SP (service pack) should be available for 2012 anytime.
