Shamrock, OK depot. Shamrock, OK, about 1915. Found this link on RS. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v618/sooner/shamrock_1.jpg
Below are shortened postings from two different members. 1) At one time the Santa Fe connected with the Frisco in Shamrock, OK. The Santa Fe line came south from Drumright, OK. I have poked around Shamrock area before and really found no sign of the railroad. The same is not true in Drumright. The Santa Fe depot still stands. Does anyone know when these Santa Fe and Frisco lines were pulled? 2) According to Railroads of Oklahoma published by the state in 1970, the Frisco was pulled up in 1957 and the Santa Fe in 1964. North between Drumright, OK and Jennings, OK, the line was pulled in 2 stages. The northern most in 1934 and the rest in 1941. It was originally called the Oil Fields and Santa Fe Railway and was an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe (ATSF) subsidiary, if you will.
I was always told the Frisco line came from Depew, OK off of the Oklahoma Subdivision. It came up through Shamrock, OK and Drumright, OK mostly for oil and support of the oilfields. Shamrock is lucky to still have a post office and it is popular around St Patrick's day for its post mark.
I do not think the ATSF went to Shamrock. The Frisco ended at Tidal, OK, I believe that is the proper name, which was a refinery northwest of Shamrock, OK. The ATSF came in from Drumright, OK. Jerome
