Folks, Ray Bullock's sister (Betty) sent this note to me. Ray passed away on November 29, 2012. This is a very sad note. Ray was active in the FMIG and helped me on several occasions. Betty asked about FMIG members, so if you knew Ray, please contact her and say hello. Her username is Frisco970 on Frisco.org. Mike ============================================== Mike, I am Betty Bullock Gibbs - Ray Bullock's sister. I have been searching for the people who knew Raymond and worked with him in FMIG. Raymond passed away November 29, 2012. Your information on the 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler thread was correct but he had dropped the People PC account about the same time as your last posts. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009. By the time Doctors began radiation it had spread to the colon and bones. He went through chemo all of this year. He fought to live until he could no longer use his hands - which were his life. We have not yet decided what of his creations to keep and what to let go. Shirley (Ray,s wife) and I have both done some modeling but never the mechanical part so I don't know if that is part of our futures. Here are links to his obituary: http://www.sapulpaheraldonline.com/articles/2012/12/05/obituaries/doc50be3d2a3d45a870314651.txt http://www.smithfuneralhomesapulpa.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=1839095&fh_id=12265 Betty ===================================================
Betty, I am so sorry to hear about Ray. We go back to the early days of FMIG and chatted about Frisco steam engines every chance we got. He really was a great guy and will be missed. Don Wirth
Betty, I echo Don Wirth's comments. I only met Ray a couple of times at FMIG meetings, but I recall his contributions to the FMIG newsletter were always among the most interesting and fun to read. Ken Wulfert
We who knew Ray were the better for it. He was a maticulous modeler, especially with HO and O steam locomotives. He also graced us with his presence at one or more of the early FMIG conventions. His writings and model photos survive in the FMIG newsletters posted here. Goodby old friend, Doug
