Hi all, after a long time hunting I finally tracked down a proto E8 on eBay that didnt end up in a bidding war. After the government (USPS) sent it from California to new jersy then back to kc I finaly got it in my hands today and got to look it over and run it. An issue I am having is the doors open but they some times get crooked and I have to pop the shell off to get them lined back up. The shell seems a little flimsy so Im afraid to take it on and off a lot. What is the best solution to fixing the doors? Super glue? I look forward to installing a t4x and LEDs into this engine. I plan on taking out all the factory lights and putting in an led at each head light and smds on the number boards. Ethan
Don't quite understand: the doors open by themselves, or are you opening them? There should be small springs that hold them closed. If the springs are missing, I would suggest applying a narrow strip of masking tape across the backs of the doors to keep them closed. I wouldn't use glue, just because I try not to do irreversible things to plastic equipment, just in case I want to make a change at some future date. GS
Hi Ethan I would agree with Mr. Stout that tape is the way to go, but a clear Scotch, or packaging tape is what I would prefer. That may be all wrong but is just my opinion. Regards,
The doors have the springs. I guess I should have been more clear, my apologies. What I think happens is the doors shift as it runs. I'm not 100% sure yet. I'll try tape first and see if that works. Ethan
